Houston was fabulous. I had such a great time. It was weird... coming back, I had kind of a culture shock. The weekend changed me, I think, and coming back a changed person was difficult. Sure, it wasn't drastic, but the way I saw things in a different way. It sounds silly, but...The entire experience was... well... concentrated magnificence. So many interesting people, and all so interested in each other. Passionate, funny, talkative, awesome.
I got accepted as an alternate, which I declined. The other six SeaTac people also got accepted: Indonesia (2, 1 declined), Ghana (2), Thailand, and alternate (2). The other alternate is going to Turkey!
I'm getting really pumped for South Africa. 20 days left! I am feeling anxious about some things, but overall I'm very excited and happy.
We're having a meeting this weekend for class, to talk about packing, culture shock, jet lag, and get friendly with each other.
There is so much to get done before I go...
I'm collecting letters/notes/envelopes to open while I'm there. I know nobody really checks this, but... if you happen to see it, I'd love to get one from you.
I'd love emails while I'm there! I will be reading and responding to them in my down time.
